The Fuel that Stokes the Fire

Writing a review after finishing a book you enjoyed really does a number of things.

  1. It helps other readers who enjoy books in the same genre make buying or borrowing decisions.
  2. It’s the best way to thank an author for creating a unique bit of entertainment for you.
  3. It inspires the author to get back to doing what she does–write more books.

I loved this! I hadn’t read book one and it really doesn’t matter – this works well as a standalone and the backstory is kept to a discrete minimum.
The prose style is light and very polished, and the narrative flows in a way that takes the reader along easily.
I liked the two main characters very much. They were nice people, the sort of women you can identify with and would like to be friends with. The dialogue is lively and in places I laughed out loud.
It is actually a very fast-paced story, more so than I’d been expecting – there are things happening all the time. It’s balanced well with some lovely informative details about boats and the selective resort which gave me a fun insight into a world I know nothing about.
I’d recommend this book and look forward to reading more (starting with book one!).
